Natives of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan entered the “BBC 100 Women” list
The “BBC” – nationwide television and radio broadcasting organization, published a list of 100 inspiring and influential women across the world for 2018.
The list includes girls and women aged between 15 and 94 from 60 countries of the world. There are leaders, pioneers and everyday heroines in the list.
The “BBC” chose 2 women from the countries of Central Asia – one is from Uzbekistan and one from Kyrgyzstan.
The 8th place in the list of “BBC 100 Women” was taken by 19-year-old student-programmer Alina Anisimova, originally from Kyrgyzstan. She runs a school on satellite construction for girls, whose goal is to build the country’s first satellite.
The 13th place was given to 61-year-old Leila Belyalova, born in Uzbekistan. She is a teacher at the university. Leila works to preserve the mountain ecosystems of Uzbekistan and protects bird species.
For the 1st place, the “BBC” chose a girl from Nigeria, a 33-year-old social entrepreneur. She founded an NGO “Girls coding” that teaches girls how to develop websites that will help solve problems in their society.
At the 2nd place is Esraa al-Shafei from Bahrain, 32. She is the executive director of the non-profit organization “Majal.org”. She is the creator of many digital platforms which give voice to the “underrepresented” women in the Middle East and North Africa.
The third position is taken by an 18-year-old model from Russia, Svetlana Alekseyeva. During childhood, she survived a fire which left scars all over her body. Now she helps other people with scars to feel more self-confident.
