Human Rights Commissioner at Oliy Majlis: Uzbekistan to introduce Ombudsman for children’s rights
According to the report of Kun.uz correspondent, a representative on human rights at Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan is preparing a roadmap for cooperation of Central Asian Ombudsmen.
In accordance with the Human Rights Commissioner, cooperation between the Ombudsmen of Central Asia has been developing over the past 2 years.
“Each year, 3-4 meetings are held with the assistance of the UN High Commissioner and the UN Office on Central Asia. We are currently preparing a joint roadmap. This map envisages the issues of organizing co-operative activities between the Central Asian ombudsmen. It is expected that the map will be adopted next year,” Mr. Mukhammadiyev said.
“There will be two ombudsmen operating in Uzbekistan. At the moment, the issue of the introduction of Ombudsman for children’s rights is under intense discussion. In many foreign countries such ombudsmen operate. I believe that the Ombudsman for children’s rights will be established in Uzbekistan,” he added.
