Ban Ki-moon arrived in Karakalpakstan

On November 26, the Jokargi Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan hosted a delegation headed by former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, Kruz reported.
Within the framework of the event, Deputy Chairman of the Jokargi Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan A. Khamrayev welcomed the guests and familiarized them with the geographical location, population, administrative structure, natural resources of the country, as well as ongoing reforms. He also pointed out the fact that during the years of independence, comprehensive relations have been established with many developed countries, especially with South Korea and these relations have risen to a new level today.
In turn, Ban Ki-moon expressed his gratitude for the sincere welcome and stated that he would contribute to the region’s efforts on the way of improving the ecological conditions.
Today, on November 27, an international forum “Improvement of the ecological situation in the Aral Sea area and the role of the Korean diaspora in this process” is being held in Nukus city.
