Smuggling of jewelry imports from Istanbul to Samarkand was discovered
Despite the campaign to raise awareness of the population about the established rules of import and export of goods through the customs border and increase their legal literacy, illegal attempts to smuggle gold and jewelry products into the country have been unceasingly encountered.
In particular, a citizen D. M. arriving at Samarkand International Airport with a flight “Istanbul-Samarkand” tried to pass through the green corridor. However, it was found out that the passenger wanted to bring in precious metal beyond set standards – 100 units of silver rings and earrings weighing 336.7 gr.
On the identified circumstance, the customs officials have issued a record of administrative offense with participation of witnesses.
Regional Administrative Court of Samarkand has taken into account the nature and degree of social danger of the violation and found the citizen D. M. guilty of breaching administrative responsibility in accordance with the Article 227 (Part 1) of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Article 33 of the Code on administrative responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the offender has been fined twice as much as monthly minimum wage.
In addition, silver jewelry amounting 8.4 million sums was confiscated in the proper order for the benefit of the state.
