Uzbekistan becomes the member of CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly
Uzbekistan has joined the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the CIS member states. On November 29, Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev signed a document on joining the relevant convention at a meeting of the IPA CIS Council in St. Petersburg, TASS reports.
“We happily support the entry of Uzbekistan into our common parliamentary family, our assembly. I say, CIS parliamentary family is now complete,” Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said at a meeting.
“Joining the IPA CIS is an essential event for us. It opens up new opportunities for international cooperation together with the parliaments of the member states of the IPA and improves authority in the international arena,” Mr. Yuldashev said.
After the signing procedures, the flag of Uzbekistan was brought into the meeting room.
The IPA CIS was established in 1992. Since 1995, it has the status of an independent interstate organization.
