Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to reform the Cabinet of Ministers
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his speech at a ceremonial meeting devoted to the adoption of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, offered to review the work of the Cabinet of Ministers, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“Based on the goals and objectives of the reforms we are carrying out, I think it is time to radically reconsider the work of the Cabinet of Ministers in order to turn it into a truly supreme executive authority. I want to note that in no country have profound socio-economic reforms been carried out easily and quickly,” said the president.
According to him, over the past two years, 90 laws and over 2,000 decrees have been adopted, aimed at implementing constitutional rights and freedoms, improving the living conditions of our citizens, and solving problems that have accumulated over many years.
“I must say that 20 percent of the more than 13 thousand tasks defined in the adopted acts of legislation were not fulfilled in a timely manner. This indicates that the Cabinet of Ministers and the heads of a number of state and economic management bodies, as well as local khokimiyats relate to this issue,” the head of state added.
“It should also be openly said that some officials, accustomed to think and work in the old way, do not like the reforms. After all, changes, renovations, you see, violate their peace and regular existence. However, reforms are a requirement of life itself, and they cannot be stopped. The leaders of all levels should be deeply aware of this,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed.
