Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan eye to launch Silk Visa in February
In February next year, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are planning to introduce a single Silk Visa, Kun.uz correspondent reports citing Ulugbek Kasimhodjayev, acting First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism.
“Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will jointly introduce a visa, it is called Silk Visa. It has practically passed all approvals from relevant departments. Now it remains to solve some technical details. This is due to the fact that the visa regime of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is different. We have, for example, electronic visas, they have already been introduced, and the Kazakh side has not yet fully implemented them,” Ulugbek Kasimhodjayev noted.
According to him, the visa should be launched in February 2019.
“Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are very interested in this project, Turkmenistan is still thinking. The Kazakh side also intends to attract Turkey and Azerbaijan,” he stressed.
Experts say the introduction of a single visa will stimulate not only the development of tourism in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, but also the cultural exchange between the parties.
