Kyrgyzstan’s ex-MP sentenced to 7 years in prison for corruption
Muzaffar Isakov, ex-MP of Kyrgyzstan, was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment with a probation period of 3 years by the Suzak District Court, Kyrgyz media reported with reference to Jalal-Abad regional court.
The sentence is conditional.
Public prosecutor asked the judge to sentence Isakov to 12 years in penal colony with confiscation of property.
On 13 February 2017, the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan launched a probe against MP Muzaffar Isakov on suspicion of corruption.
It was established that Isakov when serving as head of the Tash-Bulak village, Suzak district, Jalal-Abad region in cooperation with other officials of the state registration and agriculture of the district issued 315 resolutions on illegal transfer of 14.34 hectares of agricultural land for the individual housing construction.
The lands have been distributed in 2010-2015 years.
During the investigation, some residents told that they bought these land plots for $1,500 - $3,000.
On 31 March 2017, Isakov was imposed travel ban outside Kyrgyzstan.
On December 25, 2018, the Central Election Commission has received a letter of resignation from MP Muzaffar Isakov (SDPK). Isakov received a mandate and badge of MP on 15 June 2016.
