“Over 40 million persons crossed Uzbekistan’s border in 2018” – Border troops

According to the press servise of the SSS, in 2018, 3707 violators of the State border, 1330 violators of the order of stay were arrested. Moreover, 168 units of different weapons, 6159 units of ammunition, 64.7 kg of narcotic drugs, 1385 facts of illegal transportation of inventory items amounting to 41.6 billion soums, as well as foreign currency by 13.6 billion in soum equivalent, were prevented.

In addition, more than 40 million people and 1.7 million vehicles passed through border checkpoints. This is twice more than the last year. So, on the border with Kyrgyzstan - 9.3 million (last year 3 million); with Kazakhstan - 20 million (13.8 million); with Turkmenistan - 952.6 thousand (574.1 thousand); with Tajikistan - 5.7 million (1.2 million); with Afghanistan - 227.8 thousand (115.9 thousand) citizens passed through the aviation checkpoints.

Also, representatives of the border troops of the SSS participated in 46 joint exercises.

On december 26, 2018, scheduled exercises were held in the area of the village “Sarka” of Tashkent district, Tashkent region. The purpose of the training was examination of the actions to curb illegal exit through the international checkpoint "Gisht-kuprik", as well as identify smuggling cases at the border.
