Uzbek government approves the procedure of compensation for damage in connection with the seizure of land

The government of Uzbekistan has approved the procedure of compensation for damages to individuals and legal entities in connection with the seizure of land for state or public needs, Kun.uz correspondent reports referring to the legislative portal Norma.

The detailed payment mechanism is approved in accordance with a special resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.

It should be recalled that in August, the president approved a specific list of cases when land is allowed to be withdrawn. Previously, the list was not in the interests of individuals. Even in individual cases, it could also be recognized as state or public.

A new approach to the seizure of land has changed the procedure for paying compensation for owners of demolished real estate. Previously, it was allowed from public and private sources.

Now 15 centralized funds have been created to compensate for the damage caused to individuals and legal entities in connection with the seizure of land plots for state or public needs:

- republican fund – indemnifies the damage caused on the basis of programs and instructions of the president;

- territorial funds at the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent – compensate for damage caused by the initiative of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, administration of regions and Tashkent city.

Now the seizure of lands without the consent of the funds is prohibited. The highest body of each fund is the Supervisory Board. It is the board that decides on the allocation of funds for reimbursement.
