Uzbekistan introduces new types of visas for foreigners (details)
Earlier, Kun.uz reported that proposals would be made to offer different types of visas for foreigners visiting Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to accelerate the development of tourism”, new types of visas will be introduced:
1. “Vatandosh” – for natives of Uzbekistan who live abroad (for 2 years). The only condition for obtaining this visa is that their relatives (citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan) living here in the republic should send a special offer for them to visit the country.
2. “Student visa” – for students coming to study at educational institutions of Uzbekistan (for 1 year). It should be registered at the request of ministries, departments and organizations of the Republic.
3. “Academic visa” – for foreign nationals wishing to pursue research and pedagogical activity in Uzbekistan (from 3 months to 2 years). It is granted at the request of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, scientific-research organizations and universities.
4. “Medical visa” – for those who come for treatment in Uzbekistan (up to 3 months).
5. “Pilgrim visa” – for foreigners who want to study the cultural-historical and religious-spiritual heritage and traditions of Uzbekistan (up to 2 months). It is granted at the request of touristic organizations and Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers.
