$50 million to be directed to create automated fare collection and transportation management systems in Tashkent
$50 million will be directed to create automated fare collection and transportation management systems in the capital of Uzbekistan, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
These funds will be invested by foreign partners participating in the project. Among them are a consortium of Hong Kong companies Fininvest Foundation and Turkish Kentkart.
It should be recalled that “Toshshahartranshizmat” for several years already speaks about the introduction of such systems in the capital. The company has repeatedly been criticized for delaying this process, including by the head of state.
In August last year, the President of Uzbekistan instructed the khokim of Tashkent to develop a concept for radical reforming the public transport system of Tashkent with the involvement of a foreign engineering company by January 1, 2019. This work was undertaken by the “MosTransProject”, which introduced this concept on the eve of the New Year.
As part of the creation of an automated fare collection system, it is planned to introduce unified transport cards to be used in all types of public transport. They will be divided into several types: standard, as well as special for privileged categories of the population - retirees, persons entitled to free travel, students and pupils.
It was earlier reported that automated fare collection systems have been implemented in two cities of the country - Samarkand and Fergana.
