Uzbekistan beats Oman in the group match of the Asian Cup (2:1)
In a group stage match in the Asian Cup, which is being held in the UAE, national team of Uzbekistan played against Oman and secured 3 points thanks to the victory sealed on the 85th minute of the match.
Captain of the Uzbek team Odil Akhmedov performed a spectacular free-kick and arrowed the ball into the bottom corner of the goalpost on the 34th minute, leading Uzbekistan in the first half of the game.
However, in the second half, Oman substitute Muhsen Al Ghassani leveled the score.
Oman goalkeeper Faiyz Al Rusheidi, who was a late call-up to the squad, blocked Dostonbek Khamdamov's fierce volleys twice but disaster struck for Oman with five minutes left to play.
Shomurodov burst into the box and tried a left-footed shot that Al Rusheidi got a hand to but failed to keep out as he was beaten at his near post and, though Krimets was shown a straight red card for a foul on Al Ghassani, Uzbekistan joined Japan in taking maximum points in their first Group F match.
