Uzbekistan, Pakistan to strengthen cooperation

On January 9, 2019, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Furkat Sidikov met with Hidoyat Ullah, the head of the Parliamentary Friendship Association with Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, issues of strengthening the Uzbek-Pakistani inter-parliamentary relations, improving the legal framework of bilateral contacts, consolidating cooperation in agriculture, trade, investment and logistics spheres were discussed.
An agreement was reached on the organization of mutual visits of parliamentarians of Uzbekistan and Pakistan in 2019.
The Pakistani side also expressed interest in sharing experiences in the field of lawmaking and parliamentary reform.
Hidoyat Ullah confirmed his readiness to cooperate in the implementation of regional transport and logistics initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, primarily in the construction of the Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway corridor.
