The Kyrgyz Republic unilaterally declares Open Skies and fifth freedom of the air
Sooronbai Jeenbekov, President of Kyrgyzstan, signed into law the amendments to the Air Code of Kyrgyzstan, which unilaterally declares Open Skies policy and the fifth freedom of the air in the country, Kyrgyz media reports.
The law is aimed to develop the civil aviation in Kyrgyzstan, boost the air passenger and cargo transport, and expand affordability of international flights and air tickets for Kyrgyzstanis and foreigners through the use of Open Skies policy and the fifth freedom of the air.
The law comes into force in 10 days after official release.
The fifth freedom allows an airline to carry revenue traffic between foreign countries as a part of services connecting the airline's own country. It is the right to carry passengers from one's own country to a second country, and from that country to a third country.
