Mirziyoyev visits one of the sites where engineering surveys are conducted for constructing NPP

On January 30, the President of Uzbekistan visited Forish district of Jizzakh region and came to see one of the sites where engineering surveys are underway for the construction of a nuclear power plant, the press service of the head of state said.
The president asked questions about the survey, talked with the leaders of the agency “Uzatom” and the corporation “Roskosmos”.
“This huge project is a new strategic direction of cooperation with Russia. Our country’s industry is developing, the population is growing. There are many big plans to be realized. For their implementation, we need a stable energy supply. In the conditions of limited sources of energy, this opportunity will be provided by a nuclear power plant. It will serve the further development of the economy and employment of the population,” the president said.
The need for thorough preparation for the construction of a nuclear power plant based on accurate calculations, studying foreign experience in the construction of such structures was noted.
“Our nuclear power plant should be better, even safer than others,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Also, a presentation of projects to expand the mineral resource base of Jizzakh region, socio-economic development of Forish district, effective use of tourism potential and dry farming was demonstrated.
“In fact, Forish is one of the districts with the highest potential. However, today it lags behind other regions. By correctly using its capabilities in agriculture, geology, processing sphere, it is possible to further improve the well-being of the population, increase revenues to the local budget,” the head of state said.
It was noted that as a result of introducing the water-saving technologies in pursuance of the instructions given in the course of the previous trip, 50,000 hectares of sown areas were mastered in Forish district. Additionally, instructions were given on how to grow in-demand products and increase incomes of the population.
According to the press service, the head of state also spoke with local chairmen of Jizzakh.
