Uzbekistan, Altai to sign a co-op agreement in 2019 

Uzbekistan and Altai (Russia) plan to sign a cooperation agreement this year, Kun.uz correspondent reports. 
  
This became known after the talks between the head of the Altai Republic Alexander Berdnikov and the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk Yusup Kabuljanov. 
  
According to Berdnikov, the Altai Republic is a region open to inter-regional and international relations in various fields of activity. He noted the friendly nature of relations of the parties and stressed the importance of their further development on a mutually beneficial basis. 
 
“Today, there is a reason for mutual cooperation with Uzbekistan – interaction is possible not only in terms of trade-economic cooperation, particularly, in animal husbandry, agriculture and trade, but also in terms of cultural exchange,” the head of the republic emphasized. 
  
In addition, Alexander Berdnikov added that work in this direction has already begun. Thus, a contract was concluded between the companies “Kayral” (RF) and “Naslchilik” (Uzbekistan) for exporting pedigree cattle to the territory of Kashkadarya region. 3000 heads of Gorno-Altaisk goats are planned to be delivered to Uzbekistan within three years. 
 
Yusup Kabuljanov thanked the head of the region for organizing the meeting and expressed hope for further constructive cooperation. 
  
“We have a lot in common and have great potential that we will use. The Uzbek Government will study in detail which region is most suitable for cooperation with the Altai Republic,” Mr. Kabuljanov said. 
 
On the same day, the Uzbek delegation visited the Gorno-Altaisk State University. The issues of cooperation in the scientific-technical sphere: linguistics, archeology, agrotechnology were considered. To date, four students from Uzbekistan are studying at a university in the region. 

During the meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, issues of cooperation in the development of breeding, crop production, direct deliveries of fruits and vegetables and other areas were discussed.
