Shavkat Mirziyoyev sends greetings to President of Sri Lanka
On February 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena on this country’s National holiday - Independence Day, the presidential press service said.
Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on October 11, 1999 by signing a Joint communiqué in Moscow.
For information, the National Day of Sri Lanka is celebrated to commemorate its internal political independence from British rule in 1948. The day is a national holiday in Sri Lanka. It is celebrated all over the country through flag-hoisting ceremony, dances, parades and performances. Usually, the main celebration takes place in Colombo, where the President raises the national flag and delivers a nationally televised speech.
