Uzbekistan’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner returns from technical checkup in Amsterdam
On January 11, the first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (UK-78701) of Uzbekistan arrived in Tashkent. It was withdrawn from flight operations and sent to Amsterdam for technical checkup, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
Uzbekistan Airways has been using Boeing-787 aircrafts equipped with GEnx-1b engines since 2016. In order to ensure flight safety, Boeing-787 aircrafts are tested regularly in co-operation with the aircraft and plane engine manufacturers.
“The Dreamliner, which returned from the following flight on January 11, 2019, was removed from the flight. According to the recommendation of experts, it was taken to Amsterdam on February 4,” Kun.uz correspondent reports referring to a statement of the source.
Reportedly, Boeing 787 has been sent to the capital of Netherlands for scheduled modification of aircraft engines.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan Airways has planned to arrange a briefing with participation of the companies Boeing and General Electric in order to clarify suspicious happenings. But the briefing has not yet been organized. Uzbekistan Airways has not officially commented on the Dreamliner's failure.
