Commander of Central Military District of Russia arrives in Uzbekistan

First Deputy Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan – Chief of the General Office of the Armed Forces Major-General Pavel Ergashev held talks with the commander of the Central Military District (CMD) of Russia Alexander Lapin, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan reported on Tuesday.

At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Russian cooperation in the defense sphere and exchanged views on strengthening mutually beneficial ties in the military-educational direction.

During the meeting, Ergashev noted that regular meetings at a level of the heads of our states and defense ministries give additional impetus to strengthening strategic partnership and allied relations between our countries, including relations in the field of defense and assuring security in the region.

The Chief of the General Office of Uzbekistan particularly expressed his gratitude to the commander of the troops of the Central Military District of Russia for their assistance in matters of increasing the combat readiness of troops of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan.

After the meeting, the delegation of the Russian Armed Forces visited the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, where they familiarized themselves with the tasks, activities and history of the highest military educational institution, as well as the latest approaches in the field of training military personnel of command and office.

The commander of the CMD of the RF Colonel-General Lapin held a lecture. He shared the combat experience of the Russian army in the Middle East with the personnel of the Uzbek Academy.

On March 2, members of the military delegation of the Russian Federation will get acquainted with the historical and cultural sights of Samarkand city.
