Citizen of Uzbekistan who attempted to transfer undeclared $19,000 cash valuables detained in Yekaterinburg
At Koltsovo International Airport in Yekaterinburg, an Uzbek citizen who attempted to transport $19,000 out of Russia without any declaration was detained, the press service of the Ural Customs Service said.
Reportedly, a passenger travelling en route Yekaterinburg-Tashkent was detained at the airport. Foreign currency valuables were found in his luggage.
“The passenger told customs officers that this money was his income earned at a drilling company. He did not know the rule that if a passenger carries more than $10,000, the customs declaration form should be filled at the “red corridor”.
For this reason, $9,000 was confiscated, which was exceeding the allowable limit. Now the court will decide on this confiscated money.
It is noted that since the beginning of the year, airport customs officers have filed more than 30 administrative cases against infringements of customs legislation related with undeclared currency valuables. Usually, passengers arriving from Georgia, Tajikistan and Turkey, as well as from China were involved in such violations.
