On the basis of Uzbekenergo, three companies - "Thermal Power Plants", "National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan" and "Regional Electric Networks" will be created.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the reorganization of Uzbekenergo as part of the transition to modern methods of organizing the production, transportation, distribution and marketing of electric energy by a resolution of March 27.
The JSC "Thermal Power Plants" will be engaged in the management of thermal power plants and power plants that generate electricity and thermal energy.
On the basis of the UE Uzelektrtarmoklari and JSC Uzbekenergo, the JSC "National electric networks of Uzbekistan" will be created. It will operate and develop the country's trunk grids, transport electricity via trunk grids and interstate transit, export and import of electricity, a single operational dispatch management of electricity producing enterprises, as well as trunk and regional electricity grids, functions as a single electricity purchaser from its producers and sales of electricity to enterprises of regional power grids.
JSC "Regional power generation grids" will manage the enterprises of territorial power grids that distribute and sell electricity to end-users.
It is planned to attract highly qualified specialists, including foreign, with necessary experience and practical skills, to managerial positions of new companies.
A project office is created at the Ministry of Energy, which serves as the working body of the Commission for reforming the Electric Power Industry (established by presidential decree of October 23, 2018). The Project Office will be headed by the Deputy Minister of Energy who oversees the electricity industry. It will attract international and domestic experts and industrial specialists.
By May, it was entrusted to prepare a draft government decision on improving the methodology for determining electricity tariffs, providing full coverage of operating, operating and investment costs in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity, as well as the establishment of a marginal rate of profitability of enterprises in the electricity industry.
On the basis of the JSC "Kishlokelektrloyiha", a “modern multidisciplinary design organization” - JSC "Uzenergoengineering" will be created. It carries out the design of all types of electrical networks with voltage from 0.4 kV to 500 kV inclusive “using innovative technologies and achievements of modern science”.
