Uzbekneftegaz proposes to switch to alternative fuels, stop gas supply to individual companies from 2020

Uzbekneftegaz has submitted for discussion a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the expansion of the use of alternative types of fuel in industries of the economy and social sphere.

“Despite the measures taken, energy intensity of the domestic economy remains high, the level of diversification of fuel and energy resources consumed does not meet global trends of involvement in industrial production of renewable energy sources. The share of natural gas dominates in the structure of consumption of primary fuels,” the project says.

The analysis of fulfillment of instructions for the transfer to the use of alternative types of fuel to natural gas indicates the fact of lagging behind: for example, at brick factories, execution was only 33%, and lime production shops - 0.5%.

At the same time, calculations confirm that the conversion of brick factories to coal allows for the release of natural gas in the amount of about 1,520 million cubic meters, and of the lime production shops - 668 million cubic meters.

In this regard, it is proposed to determine reduction of the share of natural gas consumption in sectors of the economy as boiler and furnace fuel as one of the priority directions of development in the field of energy consumption.

Other priorities:

reducing the energy intensity of products through further modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of existing and emerging new production facilities based on modern energy-efficient and energy-saving technologies;

conversion of boiler equipment of enterprises producing building materials and operating greenhouses from using natural gas to using other alternative types of fuel (coal, coal and wood briquettes and pallets, biogas and others);

extensive use of solar and wind energy, biogas, earth energy and other renewable energy sources using proven technologies and installations for their production (solar and geothermal power plants, wind power and bioenergy plants, heat pumps and others);

expansion of the production of modern types of energy-saving equipment operating on alternative fuels.

The draft proposes, by June 1, 2019, to compile a list of objects to be converted for the use of alternative types of fuel, organizations in four areas:

Production of burnt bricks.
Lime production.
Cement production.
Greenhouse and greenhouse management.

Accordingly, it is assumed that Uzneftegasinspektsiya, Uzenergoinspektsiya, JSC Uztransgaz will stop supplying natural gas to enterprises of these four spheres, which have not converted their facilities for the use of alternative fuels, from January 1, 2020.

The project can be learnt here, one can submit suggestions and comment on it until April 13.
