Taxi cabs of Tashkent city to be equipped with GPS-trackers
In addition to buses, the GPS transport monitoring systems are being installed in the capital's fixed-route taxis. To date, the equipment is installed in 500 of the 2500 taxi cabs, the traffic Department of Tashkent city reported.
So the traffic patrol department plans to establish control over the observance of traffic rules, in particular, the speed limit by drivers of public transport.
The department cooperates with Toshshakhartranskhizmat - a city passenger transport operator. Once a month, traffic patrol team checks the information from GPS devices of almost 1,500 shuttle buses.
“Trackers fix vehicle speeding. We take this data and identify malicious violators. First, we warn drivers. If violations are repeated, we issue a fine,” deputy chief of the Internal Affairs Directorate, Colonel Azizkhon Umarkhonov said at a meeting with journalists.
He also noted that over the past seven months, 180 bus drivers were brought to administrative responsibility for speeding off.
Earlier, it was reported that Toshshakhartranskhizmat relaunches the application to track the movement of MyBus buses. The company decided to abandon the service TashBus, as the application is outdated.
