Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan discuss prospects for cooperation

The 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Termez under the chairmanship of Uzbek PM Abdulla Aripov and his colleague from Tajikistan Khohir Rasulzoda. It was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of the two countries.

At the meeting, which was held in an open and constructive spirit, it was especially noted that in recent years, friendship and close cooperation between the two neighboring countries have been developing at a new level.

“Further strengthening of friendly relations and cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, based on the principles of mutual trust and respect, is an important factor in ensuring the fundamental interests of our peoples. State borders have been opened, rail and air traffic, as well as bus traffic movement have been established between our countries. Trade-economic, transport-communications, cultural-humanitarian ties intensified. Industrial exhibitions and business forums are organized to promote the mutually beneficial interaction of leading enterprises and business circles of the two neighboring countries. This is important for the growth of trade turnover,” noted at the meeting

During the event, the government delegations of the two countries summed up the implementation of the agreements reached during the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.

In addition, prospects for further development of cooperation in trade-economic, transport-communications, energy, cultural-humanitarian fields and in the fields of agriculture and water management were considered.

An agreement has been signed to strengthen cooperation in these areas.
