Honorary consulate of France opened in Samarkand
On April 16, a French delegation, led by Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, began its visit to Uzbekistan by visiting the city of Samarkand, Kun.uz correspondent reported.
At the meeting with the regional khokim of Samarkand Erkinjon Turdimov, it was noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and France is consistently developing in the trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres. The visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France in October 2018 expanded the possibilities for continuing this interaction at a new stage.
According to the agency, important projects are being implemented in the Samarkand region together with French entrepreneurs and companies. Thus, within the framework of the French Development Agency project “Modernization of solid waste management in the city of Samarkand”, a system of integrated waste management is being created in the city, including environmental protection, efficient use and careful conservation of natural resources, processes of collection, processing and disposal of waste with the help of innovative solutions.
At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the quality implementation of this project in a timely manner.
After that, members of the delegation took part in the opening of the Honorary Consulate of France established in the city of Samarkand.
“It’s no secret that relations between France and Uzbekistan are deeply rooted in the centuries. It is gratifying that in recent years this collaboration has been enriched with new content. In particular, our relations became even stronger after the meeting of the heads of two states held last fall. Among the Central Asian states, opening the first honorary consulate in Uzbekistan, in ancient and eternally young Samarkand, is a striking confirmation of this effort. I think that this institution will help strengthen the close cooperation between our states and peoples,” Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said.
The guests visited historical monuments of Samarkand. In the afternoon, they departed for Tashkent.
On the same day, the delegation got acquainted with the projects implemented by the French Development Agency at Charvak water reservoir of the Bostanlyk district in Tashkent region.
