Central Internal Affairs Directorate elucidates the rules of permanent residency in Tashkent for citizens who buy apartments in new buildings

The press service of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate has published an explanation of the rules of registration for citizens buying apartments in new buildings.

It should be reminded that earlier, in the Telegram-channel “Xushnudbek”, the question was raised that a citizen, who bought an apartment in a new building and got registered in the capital on the basis of the above-mentioned government decree, is now denied registration in the housing purchased for his adult child with his wife and their minors.

The Internal Affairs Department reported that a government decree of July 19, 2017 established the procedure for acquiring housing in Tashkent city and Tashkent region by citizens of Uzbekistan, foreigners and stateless persons permanently residing in other regions.

The General Directorate of Migration and Citizenship Registration (GDMACR) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (No. 22/25297 dated December 14, 2017) determined that based on the above-mentioned decree, real estate privatization by individuals who do not have a permanent residency permit in Tashkent city and Tashkent region is carried out after notarization of real estate and registration in the state registry.

Registration for this residential area of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, foreigners and stateless persons permanently residing in other regions is carried out on the basis of clause 1 of the law “On the list of categories of persons – citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who are subject to permanent registration in the city of Tashkent and Tashkent region”.

The GDMACR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan determined that persons who received a residency permit on the basis of clause 1 of the law “On the list of categories of persons – citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who are subject to permanent registration in the city of Tashkent and Tashkent region” may register the following relatives in the capital: the spouse and their children who do not have their families, as well as joint minors and (or) children born from a previous marriage, as well as born without a registered marriage and adopted children. The above list of persons is exhaustive.

“If the citizen has an adult child with his own family (spouse and child), guided by the above-mentioned act of the GDMACR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the citizen is denied to register with him his married child,” the police department stated.
