Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington D.C. takes part in the Spirit of the Elbe Memorial wreath-laying ceremony
The Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, together with the heads of the embassies of Russia and several CIS countries in Washington, took part in the Spirit of the Elbe Memorial wreath-laying ceremony.
The event is traditionally held on April 25 at the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington.
The event was attended by American veterans of World War II, veterans from the former soviet countries and living in the USA, as well as representatives from the US State Department and Embassies of CIS countries in Washington DC.
In his speech, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale stressed that the unification of the two allied armies played a decisive role in the victory over fascism.
Participation in the ceremony at the Arlington National Cemetery is a prelude to memorable events that the Embassy plans to hold on the eve and on the days of the national holiday of May 9 - Memory and Honor Day, which is widely celebrated in Uzbekistan.
