Uzbekistan to mobilize all forces to completely eradicate corruption
Today, June 15, an extended meeting of the republican interdepartmental commission on combating corruption was held, the Senate press service reports.

During the meeting of the commission, tasks set in the presidential decree “On measures to further improve the anti-corruption system in the Republic of Uzbekistan” of May 27, 2019 were discussed. At the meeting, it was noted that fighting only the consequences of this evil has no effect. Therefore, it is necessary to mobilize all the forces to completely eradicate its causes and prerequisites.

It was emphasized that special attention should be paid to identification of crimes by directly relevant departments of human rights agencies and state bodies, that is, crimes disclosed only through their efforts, as well as crimes related to abuse of official position. It was also noted that each state body should approve, in coordination with the Interdepartmental Commission, its departmental program taking into account the risks existing in the field.

The meeting participants said that all government agencies and organizations with a view to strengthening the internal control mechanisms for implementation of relevant measures should intensify the work of internal anti-corruption commissions. It was emphasized that their leaders would be directly responsible for this.

In addition, the personal responsibility of the heads of state administration bodies, the local executive authorities for the untimely establishment of corruption risks and the late submission of an appropriate assessment, as well as the admission of cases of repeated commitment of crimes were spoken out.

During the event, it became known that from August 1, 2019, as an experiment, it is planned to implement the “Sphere without a corruption” project in the system of capital construction and higher education. As part of this, specific measures will be implemented to eliminate barriers related to red tape, to strengthen the rule of law, to ensure fair and transparent implementation of all processes.
