MPE: More than 28,000 pupils are forced to study in other schools because of the non-transparent system of admission to the first class
More than 28,000 pupils are currently forced to study in other schools, despite the fact that they live in the neighborhood of “prestigious” schools, Minister of Public Education Sherzod Shermatov writes on his Facebook page.
The main reason for this situation is the non-transparent first-class admission system. In this regard, according to him, children from their neighborhoods did not have enough seats in these schools.
“The main advantage of the new system is the creation of opportunities for children from neighborhoods without problems and payment to be enrolled at these “prestigious” schools. They simply did not have such an opportunity before,” the minister said.
“Not a single child from the fixed micro-settlement should remain unlisted in the “prestigious” schools. Reception will be mainly from the micro-settlement and only if there are additional places, then it will be possible to receive from other districts,” he added.
Starting from the academic year 2019/2020, a phased procedure is being introduced for the admission of children to public schools through the Centers for State Services (CSS) or single portal of interactive government services. This year, the new order is valid only in the capital’s educational institutions, including with in-depth study of individual subjects. This does not apply to specialized schools and boarding schools of arts and culture, as well as the Olympic reserve.
Admission of children for the academic year 2019/2020 will begin from June 20 and will last until August 31.
