Tashkent-Warsaw direct flights may be launched

On July 1, 2019, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov met with Undersecretary of State for Eastern Policy, Economic Diplomacy and Development Cooperation at the Foreign Ministry of Poland Marcin Przydacz, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit, the press service of the MFA reported.

During the meeting, current issues of bilateral relations in political, trade-economic, investment, tourism, cultural-humanitarian and other areas were reviewed.

The sides emphasized their commitment to constructive dialogue, expansion of mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation.

Specific aspects of collaboration between Uzbekistan and Poland, in particular, readiness to increase mutual trade and implementation of joint projects in various sectors of the economy were discussed.

The parties supported the proposal on conducting regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and holding its 7th meeting in the second half of the year in Warsaw.

The opening of the Representative Office of Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Tashkent last year was particularly welcomed. It will contribute to attract investment and technology in Uzbekistan’s economy.

Special attention was paid to development of cooperation in the tourism sector. The Polish side expressed its gratitude to Uzbekistan for introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for its citizens starting from February 1, 2019. As noted, it will allow to intensify the flow of tourists from Poland to Uzbekistan. Currently, the issue of establishing direct flights between Tashkent and Warsaw is being studied.

Issues of deepening cooperation in cultural-humanitarian and scientific-educational spheres were discussed at the meeting.
