VUB to hold “Central Asia and Uzbekistan Day” in Belgium
On July 9, 2019, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium Dilyor Khakimov visited the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Free University of Brussels – VUB) and held talks with the acting rector Romain Meeusen.
During the meeting, an exchange of views on training for industrial development, the role and place of VUB in the professionalization of various sectors of the economy, including measures to improve the quality of education in higher educational institutions, training and retraining for the needs of various sectors of the country, took place.
Following the talks, the parties reached a number of practical agreements. In particular, the leadership of VUB accepted an invitation to visit Uzbekistan, including to organize negotiations at the ministries and departments of the republic.
In addition, within the framework of the development of intercultural dialogue, the parties initiated to hold the so-called thematic event “Central Asia and Uzbekistan Day” at the Free University of Brussels. According to the Belgian side, such initiative will promote the image of the country.
At the end of the meeting, Romain Meeusen expressed readiness to prepare a draft memorandum of understanding for the subsequent signing during the upcoming visit to Uzbekistan.
