EU to allocate €5 million to finance projects in the Aral Sea region
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the European Union Dilyor Khakimov met with Riina Kionka, the Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the European Council President.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, during the conversation, the European side highly appreciated the results of the EC President Donald Tusk’s visit to Uzbekistan and his negotiations with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 31, 2019 in Tashkent.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the process of joint work on a draft Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between Uzbekistan and the European Union. In particular, within the framework of the second round of negotiations on the draft document, the parties managed to agree on many of its important points. To continue the discussion, it is planned to organize the next round in Tashkent.
Riina Kionka stressed the EU’s interest in supporting the UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region. In this regard, it was decided to allocate 5 million euros to finance projects under this fund.
