Uzbekistan asks Turkey to reduce tariffs for transportation on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway

Within the framework of the fifth meeting of Uzbek-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, a memorandum of cooperation between the railway organizations of the two countries was signed in Ankara.
In order to create favorable conditions for bilateral cooperation in the field of international freight traffic, JSC Uzbekistan Railways and TCDD Taşımacılık A.S. (Turkish Railways) inked a memorandum of understanding.
During the meeting, the issue of creating a joint working group on development of a cooperation agreement between the Uzbekistan Railways and TCDD Taşımacılık A.S. and establishment of competitive tariff conditions, development of transportation en route route Baku - Tbilisi - Kars was discussed.
Additionally, in order to develop international transport corridors passing through the territory of Uzbekistan and Turkey, the possibilities of launching container trains will be studied.
