Companies from Russia, together with the administration of the Fergana region, are working on more than 60 projects worth about $100 million, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the regional deputy khokim Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmanov.
On August 7, a two-day international investment forum opened in Fergana. About 100 business representatives from 27 countries are participating in it.
“At the moment, we are working on 64 projects with Russian companies with a total value of about $100 million,” Abdurakhmanov said.
He stated that the most active business contacts are maintained by the enterprises of the Fergana region with partners from Bashkiria, the Vologda and Orenburg Oblasts, as well as the Perm Krai.
In particular, partners from Orenburg are planning to create a poultry cluster worth $55 million, the deputy head of the region noted.
“These figures already speak for themselves - the presence of Russian business in the Fergana region is palpable,” Abdurakhmanov added.
The long-term plans also includes projects in the textile industry, electrical industry, and processing of agricultural products.
