Age of marriage for girls to change in Uzbekistan

Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis considered the law on changing the age of marriage for girls.
The adoption of this law is expected after a second review by deputies. Under the new rules, girls will be allowed to marry only from the age of 18.
Currently, in Uzbekistan, the marriage age for girls is 17, and for men - 18. Last year in Uzbekistan, according to official statistics, 5123 girls entered into marriage at the age of 17.
