The JSC Uzbekistan Railways will receive another five Russian 3ES5K electric locomotives, the company’s press service said.

Three locomotives of this model will be delivered before the end of this year, and two more will arrive in the first quarter of 2020.

According to the investment program, two electric locomotives of the 3ES5K series were delivered at the beginning of this year. During the operation, the specialists successfully carried out corresponding tests, which served as a motive for signing a new contract for five more trains of the same model intended for freight transportation.

The main advantage of these electric locomotives is the ability to work in areas with complex terrain, which is common for our region. In addition, increasing the weight norm of freight trains allows to increase the productivity of the locomotive.

The 3ES5K freight electric locomotive consists of three sections and it is oriented to a 1520 mm gauge. The capacity of the electric locomotive is 9840 kW/h, while the capacity of freight locomotives from China (1-section “O’zbekiston”) is 6000 kW. In addition, the minimum speed is 49.9 km/h, and the maximum – 110 km/h. The electric locomotive is able to be on the run in severe cold and sultry summer days. The locomotive cab is fully computerized.
