Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov reported to the Parliament at the Senate plenary session.
According to Kun.uz correspondent, after his report senators asked Kamilov to provide information on the Mazār-e Sharīf – Herat railway line construction.
“This is a very important question. The project is one of the key areas of the transport and communications development strategy until 2035.
Now it is planned to build the road from Hairaton to Mazār-e Sharīf, from Mazār-e Sharīf to Herat, and in the future from Herat to Iran. That is, it will be possible to go to the seas through Iran. Our President’s this initiative is widely supported in the international arena.
The second route: Mazār-e Sharīf – Kabul – Peshawar – Pakistan. In other words, we are going to enter a big market through Pakistan.
Why do we need this? Firstly, this is important for our economic security. Secondly, we need to use the big markets that are next to us.
When Afghanistan becomes peaceful in future, Afghans need everything – starting from nail, pasta and other things up to cotton. It is a very large market. The Afghan businessmen have a lot of money and financial opportunities. Now there are billions of dollars of Afghanistan in the UAE. They are very much willing to work with us.
Also, if we open these routes, the cost of transit will be significantly reduced. We will be able to go directly to South Asia and the seas,” the Foreign Minister said.
