Euroatom ready to help Uzbekistan in conducting NPP safety “stress tests”
On August 24, the head of the Uzbekistan's diplomatic mission to the EU Dilyor Khakimov met with the head of the European Union Atomic Energy International Commission (Euroatom) Hans Rhein. This was announced on Monday by the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
During the talks, the European side expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation with Uzbekistan in the energy sector, including in the field of nuclear energy. In this regard, the parties emphasized the importance of establishing an interregional dialogue in this direction.
The representative of Euroatom welcomed the creation in Uzbekistan of the Energy Ministry and showed interest in the construction of the NPP in our country.
The readiness was expressed to continue cooperation with Uzbekistan in ensuring a high level of safety at the future nuclear power plant. In particular, as it was emphasized during a thorough discussion, Euroatom is ready to collaborate with Uzbekistan to conduct “stress tests” on the NPP safety.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on taking necessary measures to intensify dialogue by exchanging information and experience with interested ministries and departments of our country, as well as on conducting visits in the near future at the highest level.
