Alexey Likhachev: Opening a MEPhI branch in Tashkent is a matter of honor for Rosatom
The Director General of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev said that opening a branch of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI) in Tashkent is a matter of honor for the Russian company.
“Opening a branch for us is a matter of honor, great pride and a great challenge. This is the first foreign branch of MEPhI. It is very symbolic that it is established in Uzbekistan,” Likhachev said at the opening ceremony of the university.
According to him, construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan will provide an agenda for cooperation between nations for a century.
“The project for creating a nuclear power plant is a project for decades. 60 years is the average service life of a station of our design, a possible extension is 20-30 years, even up to 40 years. Thus, we provide an agenda for the cooperation of our industries and our peoples for a century. This is also a huge challenge and a great responsibility,” the head of Rosatom emphasized.
On Tuesday, September 3, the ceremonial opening of the first foreign branch of MEPhI was held in Tashkent. All graduates of the branch will receive a Russian diploma recognized in Uzbekistan and abroad, and will be provided with jobs at domestic enterprises in the nuclear industry.
