Oliy Majlis proposes to limit production of goods with low energy efficiency

The Committee on Industry, Construction and Trade of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis has prepared a draft document on amendments and addenda to the Law “On the rational use of energy”.
According to parliamentarians, monitoring the implementation of the Law “On the rational use of energy” showed that the lack of services for the introduction of modern energy-saving technologies in the state and economic management, institutions and organizations, low efficiency of the implementation of information and communication technologies do not allow optimizing energy consumption.
As a result of research, it was found that there is a need to improve the current legislation regulating the activities of economic sectors. In this regard, the bill provides for the adoption of a series of measures to sharply reduce energy consumption in the sectors of the economy and social sphere, as well as ensuring the efficient use of fuel and energy resources.
The draft law clearly defines the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Energy, state control bodies and local government. In particular, it is envisaged to establish rules for determining energy efficiency categories in apartment buildings, determining energy efficiency requirements for goods (works, services), structures, buildings and devices, limiting the production or import of goods with low energy efficiency, as well as determining how to exercise state control over compliance with legislation on rational use of energy.
