If $1 billion was transferred from Russia to Uzbekistan in the Q2 2018, this amount reached $1.2 billion in the corresponding period this year.
In total, in the first six months of 2019, more than $2 billion was transferred from Russia to Uzbekistan. According to the CB report, the country is far ahead of Tajikistan ($1.1 billion) and Kyrgyzstan ($935 million) in terms of remittances.
The growth in remittances coincides with the fact that Uzbek people began to leave more actively for Russia seeking work.
