From September 23, commercial banks in Uzbekistan started selling the US dollar at 9,500 soums, buying it at 9,300 - 9,400 soums, Spot writes.

The American currency is also growing on the stock exchange. In particular, on September 20, the exchange rate of the US dollar against the Uzbek soum on the URSE amounted to 9,411 soums, which is 12 soums more than it was on September 19. Trading volume rose to $112 million.

Last week, the Central Bank updated foreign exchange rates. US dollar rose by 16 soums and for the first time exceeded the mark of 9,400 soums.

On August 9, after the first collapse of the soum, the Central Bank commented on the situation and warned that the exchange rate might begin to change more often, as the regulator is switching to a new exchange rate fluctuation policy.

The Central Bank also allowed a certain small market adjustment of the exchange rate with the possible continuation of short-term volatility, which is now happening.
