Shavkat Umurzakov: New UzAuto models will be developed simultaneously with GM platform 

The development of new models will be carried out simultaneously with the global GM network. In particular, it is possible to produce 5 models on the GM platform for the assembly of new ones. The Chairman of the Board of Uzavtosanoat Shavkat Umurzakov reported to Kun.uz about this.

“From now onwards, the development of new models will be carried out simultaneously with the global GM network. For example, on the GM platform, on which we plan to assemble new models, 5 types of cars can be produced. For the time being, 3 types are manufactured. In 3-5 years, five models can be updated using face-lifting.

I want to say that there is an opportunity to produce up to 10 models of cars on one platform.

It is noteworthy that 40-50% of the spare parts of these cars are identical. Another positive point - GM plans sell 2 million such models worldwide. It also reduces the cost of non-localized spare parts,” Shavkat Umurzakov said.

He noted that this project will make a great contribution to the development of automotive industry in Uzbekistan. Commenting on the single platform project, Shavkat Umurzakov noted that the world's leading automakers also produce several models on the same platform.
