Uzbekistan plans to increase localization of pharmaceutical production up to 50%
A draft presidential decree “On approving the Concept for development of the pharmaceutical industry of Uzbekistan in 2020-2024” was published on the portal for discussing draft normative-legal acts.
The draft regulation was developed by the Ministry of Health.
According to the draft document, Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of domestic pharmaceutical products in the market up to 50% in value terms by 2025.
In addition, it is expected to expand the range of production of drugs produced in the republic, including an increase in the share of innovative drugs in the portfolios of local manufacturers.
Developers of the document also plan to make changes and additions to the law “On medicines and pharmaceutical activities”, which provides for the following improvements:
- principles of state guarantees in the field of ensuring the safety and quality of medicines;
- regulation of the types of pharmaceutical activities;
- norms relating to development of the pharmaceutical industry, production of medicines and medical devices.
