The militants, who fought in Syria and Iraq, are returning to their homeland to continue their terrorist activities. This was stated by the Chairman of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan Abdusalom Azizov at a meeting of the CIS Council of Chiefs of Security Agencies and Special Services in Tashkent, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
According to him, against the backdrop of the successful anti-terrorist campaign in Syria and Iraq, re-deployment of international terrorist organizations to other hot spots, including to Afghanistan, continues to be noted.
“Militants of international terrorism are making attempts to return to their places of permanent residence to continue terrorist activities,” Azizov said.
Another factor in fueling international terrorism, he called, is labor migration.
“The factor of labor migration also creates conditions for citizens of our countries to fall under the influence of religious extremist and international terrorist organizations,” the head of the State Security Service said.
The heads of CIS special services during the meeting examined the issues of strengthening cooperation in the fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, as well as joint development of measures to prevent inciting ethnic and religious hatred in the CIS.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed the situation in Afghanistan in the context of its impact on regional security in Central Asia.
