Shavkat Mirziyoyev heavily criticizes attitude of government officials towards the mass media

On November 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting to discuss the implementation of the new system of housing provision to population in rural and urban areas.

During the event, the President also touched upon the issues of relations between heads of government agencies and the mass media.

“We need to discuss one more important issue with you today.

As you all see and know, today transparency in all aspects of the society is being ensured. Development process is so fast, and the outlook of our people is changing,” the President said.

In his speech, Mirziyoyev noted that the mass media play a big role in our life. “They focus on vital issues and help solve them. This is one of the main demands of a democratic society.”

“We should see the press as a mirror that reflects our work. Unfortunately, for many years we have forgotten to look at ourselves in this mirror.

Today, the culture of communication with the public at all levels of leadership, especially with the media, has become more important than ever.

In some cases, we witness leaders’ inability to respond to criticism, their attempts to refuse to acknowledge it.

Unfortunately, some leaders forget about basic principles of communication with people and the press. Their failure to provide timely and impartial responses to appeals has also led to reasonable objections.

As you can see, the news is spread almost every day on social media about the activities of some leaders. Various opinions and controversies have arisen as a result of the ill-timed and impartial response to critical reporting.

A leader should not forget that he is responsible not only for his own dignity, but also for the reputation of the government agency.

He may face obstacles and difficulties, serious problems, but he must keep calm and make the right decision based solely on the law.

If the leader has a clear understanding of his responsibilities, first of all towards his conscience and the country that he trusts, if he can combine his work with perseverance, determination and intelligence, then he will be able to earn the trust of the people.

He may be a member of the Government, a minister, a khokim or a prosecutor, this requirement applies equally to all of us and employees of the media. Nobody should forget it,” the President said in his speech on dialogue between leaders and the media.
