At the Media Hall of the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan, a meeting of the debate club “New Uzbekistan – new elections” took place.
The event titled “Rule of law and maintaining human interests – guarantees of the country’s development and public welfare” focused on the issues of ensuring observance of the constitutional principle of judicial independence, strengthening guarantees of rights and freedoms of citizens in the course of judicial investigations, expanding the right of attorney to collect and present evidences, ensuring their guarantees, revising criminal and criminal-procedural legislation, including liberalization of norms in the sphere of economic crimes.
According to the Justice Minister Ruslanbek Davletov, over 15,000 documents have been received in Uzbekistan in the past three years.
“More than 15,000 documents were received in the past three years. In 1991-2016, 60,000 documents were received. However, we should also consider the quality and we are rejecting at least 10% of the documents submitted for examination. About 90% of any documents are subject to claims and objections. It should be noted that over the past two years, 500 documents have been prepared by the ministry itself. The ministry is also working on the implementation of legislation,” Ruslanbek Davletov said.
