Special Representative of the Uzbek President for Afghanistan visits Hairatan and Mazar-i-Sharif, discusses strengthening cooperation
Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev visited Afghan cities of Hairatan and Mazar-i-Sharif, the MFA press service reports.
Within the framework of the trip, meetings were organized with the governor of Balkh province Ishaq Rahguzar, the mayor of the city of Hairatan Abdul Rauf Amiri, the leadership of the customs administration of Balkh and the border service of the Hairatan checkpoint.
As part of the negotiations, the parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached in early November during the first meeting of the joint Working Commission between Balkh province and Surkhandarya region.
A separate meeting was held with the chairman of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Arash Yunusi with the participation of heads of large Afghan companies.
During the meetings, the administration of Balkh province and business circles of the northern provinces expressed appreciation to the leadership of Uzbekistan for their active participation in international efforts to resolve the Afghan problem peacefully, paying attention to assisting in the economic recovery of Afghanistan, as well as training Afghan national personnel.
The parties discussed issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, developing cross-border trade, as well as identifying and removing existing barriers.
At a meeting with the leadership of the Balkh CCI and representatives of Afghan companies, ways to expand the range of products imported from Uzbekistan and prospects for attracting their investments in projects implemented in Uzbekistan were considered.
