Kyrgyz President believes there is no such freedom of speech anywhere as in Kyrgyzstan
President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, at his second press conference, answered questions about freedom of speech and hacker attacks on websites, Kabar news agency writes.
“I am aware of hacker attacks on websites. This is not only happening in Kyrgyzstan, but also in other more developed countries. We need to fight it. The issue of fighting cybersecurity and protecting the citizens’ database is the responsibility of the Security Council,” Jeenbekov said.
The President of Kyrgyzstan shared his views on pressure on the media and freedom of speech in the country.
“There is no such freedom of speech anywhere as in Kyrgyzstan. Journalists in Kyrgyzstan write what they want and what they see. We will develop only with a strong parliament, civil society and media. I always support the media, but freedom of speech is also a big responsibility. We need to understand it and feel it. The most important thing is that we must learn to respect the law, and this freedom must be used appropriately,” Jeenbekov said.
It should be noted that the press conference was covered by 188 journalists from local and foreign media.
